Once you sign out the Smart Response system you can pick it up the morning before your class starts. What you will receive will come in a large, soft blue bag.
Inside you will find 32 Smart Response Remotes and 1 Smart Response Receiver packed in a bubble wrapped bag.
We have 2 sets of remotes. The sets are named alphabetically: A, B, C... The remotes are numbered and lettered on the bottom of the remote. 1A, 2A, 3A.... Please return everything in the bag when you are finished.
The physical set up of the system is easy. Plug the receiver into any one of your computer's available USB slots. Hand out the remotes. Remember which ones you hand out and to which students. More on that in a moment.
Your computer will immediately recognize the receiver, if you have the Smart Response Software installed. The students can then turn on the remote using the power button located in the upper left hand corner.
Once powered up the remote will present the student with a menu. Asking him/her to either join a class or find a class. The yellow up/down arrow buttons allows the student to choose a menu item. Enter selects the item. You must create a class in the Smart Response Software which is covered here then start it in the Smart Response software for it to appear on the remote. If it doesn't the student can choose Find a Class which will search for available classes. Then they press enter to access the class. Give it a moment and they will join. Next they will be asked for their ID number. This number you assign them in the Smart Response software. You can assign the students any number but no two students can have the same number. It is a safe bet to use the CPS ID number assigned to each student. CPS ID's can be found in Impact.
Once signed in and the test is started in Smart Notebook, the questions will appear on the Remotes. The students will use the keypad to answer each question. Once they select the answer they must press enter. When they finish the test the can place the remotes down. Their answers and their results will appear automatically in your Smart Response software. When they are finished they can power down the unit by holding down the power button for 1-3 seconds. Then they can return the unit back to you.
When finished count to make sure all the units are returned and powered down. Then zip up the case and return it to the Technology Coordinator.
